Tailor your resume for each job with AI, without sounding fake
Prompts that keep your real experience in front, plus the checks that stop AI from making things up.
AI tools can help you tailor your resume with AI for each job in minutes. The trick is to keep your real experience in charge, so the result does not sound fake.
Start from your true master resume
Keep one detailed resume with every project, number and tool you have used. AI should only choose and rephrase from this, never invent.
A prompt that works
Paste the job description and your master resume, then ask:
"Pick the five experiences from my resume that best match this job. Rewrite each as one bullet starting with a verb and ending with a result. Use the job description's words where they are true for me. Do not add anything that is not in my resume."
Check every line
Read each bullet and ask: could I explain this in an interview? If not, remove it. Recruiters spot generic phrases like "results-driven professional" quickly.
Keep the format ATS-friendly
Paste the result into a simple, single-column template. The guide on the ATS resume format explains why.
Use AI for practice too
Ask the same tool to interview you for the role, one question at a time, and practise answers to why are you leaving? out loud.
