Step 6 of your job switch: Join

Your first 90 days in a new job: a simple plan

Listen in month one, deliver small wins in month two and take ownership in month three, plus the paperwork to finish.

The first three months in a new job decide how your manager and team see you for a long time. A simple plan for your first 90 days in a new job helps you settle in quickly and show results early.

Days 1 to 30: listen and learn

  • Meet everyone you will work with, one to one if you can
  • Understand how work moves: tickets, reviews, releases, meetings
  • Ask your manager what success looks like for you at 90 days, and write it down

Days 31 to 60: deliver small wins

Pick two or three small, visible tasks and finish them well. Reliable delivery builds trust faster than big promises.

Days 61 to 90: take ownership

Take responsibility for one area, such as a service, a process or a recurring problem. Suggest improvements now that you understand why things are the way they are.

Paperwork to finish

  • Transfer your old PF to the new account using your UAN. See how to download your EPF passbook to check the balance moved
  • Submit tax-saving declarations to the new employer
  • Check your first payslip against your offer

This is the last step of the job switch. Start from step 1 any time with the ATS resume format, or read the full job switch playbook.
